Valient Thorr tour update 2/1/11

This blog has had its taste of some skateboarding, some travel experiences, and some comedy, but know its time for some much needed rock n roll. New Zealand

So some of you may know, I spent my semester break in New Zealand. Now Im gona keep this post pretty short, however I do have to say that New Zealand is one of the raddest places I have ever seen, and I traveled a bit. The scenery is amazing, but the kicker is that that the people are just as SWEET AS the scenery. (Sweet As is a NZ saying for those of you have never heard and yess I am proud of my play on words) With that said just to give you a glimpse of what my experience was like please enjoy this video of me jumping off a cliff!

These next two weeks are going to suck!

Well, as some of you may know, one of our contributors Nick is currently living in Melbourne, Australia while he is studying abroad. it suddenly came to me several weeks ago that i live a pretty boring life, i do the 9-5 work thing and am taking classes full time, other than maybe one or two nights out of the week i hardly have any real fun. So it was then i decided i need to live my life more spontaneously and enjoy it (my psychologist would be proud). So it was maybe a week ago i decided F it whats one of the random-est things i can do in such a short period of time that would be the most epic that i probably would never do again...and it dawned upon me gotta go to Australia and visit Nick. So after hitting him up on facebook and email me he was totally down, couple days later finalized dates and booked my tickets, so in less than two weeks i will be on my way down under. You only live once and you never know what curve balls will be thrown your way, so like Confucius always (or maybe its Kenny Powers) " Let's Butt-fuck this party!" So keep posted as i will be bringing my camera with me and be taking photos and some videos! until then enjoy this little skate video...

So being that I consider my stay in Australia an extended 4 month road trip, it is only appropriate that I take the advice of this blog. So while at Chadstone mall, Australia's largest shopping center, guess what I come across? You betcha a bonsai tree stand. If this baby doesn't set the mood for the ladies in my room, I'm not sure what will.

The next set of photos are just a couple things I have picked up along the way. The first one is what has quickly become my favorite Ozzie beer. Like Budweiser in America, Carlton Draught is all over the place here. Its relatively cheap (being that an average sixer here will run you about 15 bucks, yea that's killing the old bank account!), but more importantly its delicious and dependable just like the true king of beers. And for obvious reasons I think it is also hysterically ironic that its named Carlton. Next is a photo of me and my two roommates, Carl's cousin and Ryan Mathews. Then the last few photos are just some cool picks I have taken around Melbourne.

And finally I need to post some of the random shit that has been crossing my mind lately. I need to give a shout out to Big Lex for this one. Living with him for a year was awesome, and he has made a ton of great calls. But more than anything else, Big Lex knows his hard alcohol and his hip-hop. He has always told me for the price and quality there is no better whiskey than Jim Bean. And living where booze is expensive I have personally found this to be true. Give it a whirl, he'll treat ya right. Next on the hip-hop side of things, If you haven't heard of him, you will soon. J.Cole is the shit. Paven I feel like you would dig it. Check him out. Week 1 Breakdown in Australia

Ok so I definitely had the "O SHIT" moment as I got on the airplane... like that conversation you have with yourself like what the fuck am I doing? That feeling didn't last long though. Pretty much an hour into the flight the nerves calmed and turned to excitement. The flight itself was surprisingly smooth as well. I watched a movie then started a second one, popped a sleeping pill, and 5 minutes into the movie I was out. I woke up honestly feeling like I had slept for an hour. So thinking I still had like 1000 hours left I started reading, when an shortly after that the captain said it was time to land. After the flight I was able to get settled in and get my feet on the ground. We went on a welcome to trip to Lorne where we got to know the group as well as surfed, hiked, mountain biked, and of course raged. The trip was a blast but here are just a couple funny observations from the trip:

Recognize this guy? Yea neither did I. But it turns out that he is a fellow nazareth alumni. WTF crazy right? We are all partying and he says he is from SD so we are shooting the shit about that. You know usual small talk stuff when we get on the subject of the saints/uni, when I guess the light bulb clicks on for him. Out of no where hes just like wait you went to Nazareth.. your dad coached our basketball teams.. I was tripped out the whole night. Who knew that so many thousands of miles across the world I would run into this guy.

Australian Red Bull! What's better than Red Bull.. If you thought nothing your close. Red Bull in a bottle. Yea its that much better.

So anyway bottom line for week 1 was that it was awesome and looks like its not gona slow down anytime soon. Until next time Im out. Kroger!

Peyvend and I took a quick trip up to Los Angeles in search of tiger blood. We were unable to locate the tiger blood but we did stumble upon Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, The Cabaret, and a Clippers game.

Valentines Day Tips...

So that dreaded day is coming upon us. For those of you with significant others i have the perfect gift that will surely have your significant other going crazy in love for you. Yes you can get a dozen roses, those fake ones that show how "long" you'll love her for, chocolates, $200 dollar dinner and the works. But what really do people love? simple answer Rock Stars, especially rock stars singing pathetic love songs a.k.a Power Ballads. This valentines show how much you truly love them by making them a mix tape of the most epic Power Ballads ever. slip the cd (or tape if you really love them) in their car night of the 13th so on the 14th on the way to work or school, they'll know you "can't fight this feeling"
